Meet our Teacher Librarian
I am delighted to say that I have been teaching at Superior Elementary since its opening year in 1996!
In my teaching career, I have taught first, second, and third grades, and Title I reading. This will be my second year as Teacher Librarian, and I consider this to be the ultimate job as I work with every grade level and learn new tools and technology alongside the students and teachers. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Literacy from the University of Colorado. In 2009, I received my National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy. Recently, I earned my Principal's License through the University of Colorado Denver and served as the interim assistant principal at Eldorado K-8 in the Fall of 2015. I truly enjoy teaching at Superior Elementary with motivated teachers, students, and families. This is an amazing place for kids to grow and learn!
I am a fourth generation Colorado native and grew up in Golden, not too far from Superior! I have been married since 1993, and my family and I live in Louisville. My husband, Arlie, a former scientist at NCAR, is now the CTE Director in BVSD. We have a son, "E", who loved being a student at Superior Elementary for six years and is now a freshman at college in Boston. In 2016, we adopted a dysfunctional, yet lovable 125 pound Newfie/Bernese Mountain dog mix. In my free time (which mostly occurs in the summer), I love to hang out with my family, read, travel, hike, walk with my dog, and cook! And, I can't forget to mention my love of baking; I enjoy baking for my family, students, and friends!
